1 John 1:1-4

Something worth Sharing

(I John 1:1-4) Our text talks about sharing the experience of a life changing encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ.

1.    Something To Share:
a.    In order to share Jesus we must first have had an experience with Him (1 Peter 1:8-10).  Our experiences with Christ, what He has done for us and what He can do for others is what we share. Sharing our life experiences comes naturally, so should sharing our Christian experiences. Your personal experience with Jesus should be a part of you that you share with others.

2.    Willingness to Share
a.    John was deliberate about sharing his experience with Jesus and we should be as well (1 Peter 3:15).  Ask God to give you a burden for the lost (Colossians 4:2-4).  Live a consistent Christian life before others (Matthew 5:13-16).   Build relationships with others (Luke 7:34-35).  Know the Gospel inside and out (2 Timothy 2:15-16).  Look for opportunities to share Christ (1 Corinthians 16:9 ;  2 Corinthians 2:12). Rely on the supernatural (Acts 16:23-34).  Leave the results with God (Isaiah 55:11).

3.    Motive to Share
a.    John’s motive for sharing was that others might have fellowship with him as he had fellowship with Christ. Everyone needs Jesus and we live in one of the largest mission fields in the world.

4.    Reward for Sharing
a.    The joy is in the telling. If you aren’t joyful in your salvation, the problem may be that you aren’t completing your joy. This is a major part of your Christian experience. The writers of the Bible had no concept of Christianity apart from leading people to Jesus. It’s the commission Jesus gave us, our reason for being here. If you’re a Child of God, you’ve got something to share, a willingness to share, a motive to share, and a reward for sharing! Fulfil your joy in Christ by telling someone about Him this week!
